Achievements of Youth Agrarian Society

Nutrition and Herbal Gardening Project, 2010- YAS has managed to train more than 50 young people in Domboshava District, on setting up and managing low input nutritional gardening, which was aimed at boosting their nutritional status and enhancing sustainable livelihoods. The project was implemented in partnership with Chinamhora Horticultural Association and was supported by Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust.

Policy Influence- Parliament Visits, 2011, YAS has managed to bring its members to meet with different Parliament Portfolio Committees working on food, agriculture and land issues to input in the development of the food and nutrition policy and the land policy

 

CAADP Zimbabwe Partner, 2012 As a member organisation of the Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Program in Zimbawe, we have managed to implement a project on sustainable land management in line with pillar 1of the CAADP process. Our staff underwent a thorogh training on the CAADP process that was organised by Africa LEAD and USAID under thr Feed the Future project.

Climate Change Awareness-“txt climate change info” project, 2011-  The initiatives which focuses on disseminating climate change information through bulk short messages which was initiated in 2011 now  has a subscriber base of more than 2000 people.

 

Climate Change Conference, 2012- YAS together with Action24 and Development Reality Institute successfully organized the 1ST ever Zimbabwe Regional Youth Climate Change Conference in Harare, October 2012, an event that attracted more than 200 young people from across Southern Africa.

Land Network Zimabwe, 2012, we are in the Steering commitee of the Land Network, a coalition of Youth organisations working on agriculture and land in Zimbabwe.
