Organisational Background​​

The Youth Agrarian Society (Y.A.S.) is a registered non-profit making organization formed in 2007 with the overall goal of promoting the participation of young people in agrarian issues as a means towards poverty alleviation and enhancing food security in Zimbabwe. The organization is registered under Zimbabwe Youth Council, registration number NA009/0609. Y.A.S. is a youth oriented institution and has its mainstream membership in tertiary and agricultural institutions as well as in marginalized communities of Zimbabwe where agriculture is the main source of people’s livelihoods.

To see a Zimbabwe where young people are able to attain sustainable livelihoods based on land utilisation

Objectives

To facilitate the positive participation of young people in alleviating poverty and ensuring food and livelihoods security through sustainable agriculture.
• To provide a platform for debate on land and agrarian policy amongst ordinary Zimbabweans.
• To raise awareness on climate change issues with a view of developing, mitigation and adaptation strategies.
• Facilitate training, technical and other support services for its membership.
• Act as a resource centre on agriculture related issues for the youth, policy makers and other stakeholders
